Summer camp IS ON AT RuminariLive Arts!  Our programs range from theatre, writing, art, and puppetry.  Create your own  find a fantastic puppet voice, hone your writing skills, learn about set design or TV&Film makeup, and create your own comic, explore space, and create theatre!  What does this add up to?  A summer filled with new memories and friends!

RuminariLive is a multipurpose space that stimulates and enhances artistic, cultural and economic activities. We create stimulating and intellectually provocative artistic work that draws upon and enriches the diversity of our region. Through development and collaborations with artists and audiences, our facility focuses on original artworks and artists.


We provide an inclusive arts space that offers alternative experiences for both local groups and touring professionals.

Our founder, Hunter Gates is a director, actor, stuntman, theatre-maker, and educator. She specializes in movement as well as devised theatre performance. Hunter has more t​​han 30 years of experience in the professional and community theatre, film and television. She trained in physical theatre at the School of Physical Theatre in Toronto. She holds a PhD in theatre philosophy, a pedagogical certificate in Physical Theatre and a certificate in stunt performance and teaching. Hunter also has extensive experience in stage combat.


Her performance and teaching experience abroad includes work in Egypt, Greece, South Africa, and the Caribbean. She has also performed and taught across Canada. She launched her post-university theatre career in Montreal at the Just for Laughs festival. She was the founding artistic director (1996 to 2016) of The Hunter Gates Academy of Physical Theatre, a school specializing in training, new-play creation and international collaborations. Dr. Gates provides artistic innovation and dedication to the voice and spirit of the community.

Hunter specializes in the creation of programs for seniors, adults, and at-risk youth.

James Tarrant, our Artistic Director, considered a radical in his works of fine art. His is a life long process of experimentation and innovation using reality as a means and not an end.

James brings a viewpoint that encompasses artistic topicality with philosophical and cultural movement and manifestation. He holds a BA in Painting with a minor in Drawing from the Alberta University of Art. James has worked in the Physical Theatre world for over two decades and brings a true eye to original works presentation.
